Your Sundarban adventure begins at Gosaba, reached via boat. This small riverside town hosts the historic Hamilton Bungalow and Beacon Bungalow, both visited on foot. With its police station and traditional market, Gosaba gives a short view of local life before you board the boat to the wild.
Sajnekhali is the official entry point into the Sundarban forest. Guests come here to visit the watchtower, see rare turtles, crocodiles, and explore the Mangrove Interpretation Center. This forest base includes ticketing, guided walking paths, and is your first real step into the heart of nature.
Located beside the river, Pakhiralay is where guests stay on both nights of the tour. With clean hotel accommodations and calm surroundings, this is the perfect spot to rest before and after exploring the forest. The area is peaceful and ideal for riverside walks and local village photography.
Your last forest entry is Dobanki, a protected zone where guests walk safely across a canopy bridge over the forest floor. This bridge offers views of forest and wildlife. It’s one of the best places to spot deers, red crabs, and — on rare lucky days — even a tiger can be spot here.
As the boat moves forward, you pass Pirkhali, Gajikhali, Banabibi Bharani, Deul Bharani, and Choragaji — dense mangrove belts where tigers and crocodiles live freely. These areas are not open for forest entry but offer incredible views from the boat. At Panchamukhani, five rivers meeting — perfect for photos.
Netidhopani Watch Tower lies on the edge of the Buffer and Core Area of the Sundarbans National Park. The Netidhopani Watch Tower was earlier easily accessible to Tourists, but now only restricted tourism in allowed at Netidhopani. As of now (April 2020), only twelve boat permits (no advance booking) are issued everyday. .
Next, visit Sudhanyakhali, where you’ll walk to a watchtower, explore mangrove trees labeled with their names, and stop by the Banabibi temple, a spiritual icon of the forest. This area offers forest-inside views and is known for peaceful moments and ideal wildlife spotting, especially in winter.
Jharkhali is being promoted as New Gateway to the Sunderbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest. It is emerging as a favourite hot spot among tourists intending to visit the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve because of its vantage location to explore the World’s largest Mangrove Forest.
